Comments: Pogonomys Division. Monotypic member of the New Guinea Old Endemics and a close morphological relative of Pogonomelomys (our research). Our allocation of Abeomelomys to the Pogonomys cluster is provisional pending a wider phylogenetic inquiry into New Guinea murines incorporating molecular and qualitative morphological data.
