In their review of specimens previously identified as Allonais paraguayensis and other taxa in this genus collected from North American habitats, Kathman and Wetzel (2003) determined that specimens previously thought to be Allonais paraguayensis had in fact been misidentified, and thus this species is not yet known to occur in North America
