Listed with one star by Söderström et al. (2016), indicating there are serious doubts about this taxon, but it was nevertheless provisionally accepted pending further review
Comment:
'Anthoceros brunnthaleri was annotated by Hasegawa in 1993 as probably conspecific with Phymatoceros bulbiculosus but the synonymy seems not to have been published' (Söderström et al. 2016). Söderström et al. (2016) also indicate this is 'excluded from' Anthoceros
