Originally published as Ascorhynchus similis. Although the name has been given as 'Ascorhynchus simile' in some works, that appears to be an unjustified emendation. The epithet can be either a noun or a 2-termination adjective (similis/similis/simile), and in a masculine genus like this, it would remain as the original A. similis. Additionally, ICZN Art. 31.2.2 would apply if the author did not indicate whether it was treated as a noun or adjective, in which case it would have to be treated as a noun in apposition (not to be changed for gender)
