Comments: Rumpler et al. (1990) suggested that occidentalis may be a distinct species, and they were followed by Thalmann and Geissmann (2000), who drew attention to a population in the Bemaraha district at 18°59'S, 44°45'E, which they suggested is likely to represent a further, undescribed species
