Comment:
Authorship for Branchipodidae in question. Martin & Davis (2001) cite Simon 1886, while Brtek & Mura (2000) cite H. Milne Edwards 1840, and Rogers (2013) cites Baird, 1852. H. Milne-Edwards (1840) seems to have used a vernacular, 'Branchipiens,' which would not have made a family-group scientific name available, and Branchipodae, which would be corrected to Branchipodidae anyway, seems to have been an available name in 1851 ( https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/37047863 ). Another potential use of Branchipusidae (which would also be corrected to Branchipodidaae) is claimed from 1845, but we have been unable to confirm this. Rather than wade into this confusion, ITIS has opted to omit the authorship for this family
