Comment:
Cockerell (1897) originally applied the name Centris hoffmanseggiae to male and female specimens. Fox (1899) later determined that the females represented a different species, and named the new species Centris cockerellii. Friese (1901:341) reproduced Fox's name & description, with attribution, but spelled the epithet 'cockerelli' (one -i, vs. Fox's two -ii) without comment. Many workers treat -ii as an incorrect original spelling, although that may be an incorrect interpretation under the ICZN. Multiple spelling variants have been used for these names

Centris cockerelli Fox, 1899 (TSN 699025) is a senior homonym of Centris cockerelli Friese, 1901 (now as Epicharis baccharis (Friese, 1901)), for which Centris baccharis Friese, 1901 (now also as Epicharis baccharis (Friese, 1901) was the replacement name. But see comments on those names regarding additional complexities regarding original combination and spelling
