Comments: Treated as a subspecies of C. megalonyx by Mann (1978) and Tamayo and Frassinetti (1980); recognized as species by Osgood (1943) and Pearson (1984, 1995). Osgood (1943) designated the skin of Notiomys connectens as the holotype of this composite specimen (skull an Abrothrix) and synonymized it with macronyx vestitus
