The Checklist of North American Butterflies, 2nd Edition (2001) lists this as a "Neotropical species dubiously reported to have occurred naturally in the United States"
Comment:
Concerning North American records that are attributable to another species, Pelham (2008:430) notes of Cyanophrys amyntor (Cramer, 1775), "A specimen from Brewster County, Texas, reported as this species, was misidentified. Its true identity as Cyanophrys herodotus (Fabricius, 1793) was confirmed by Johnson and Le Crom (1997: 26)"
