Zoonomen (2020) cites the author of Dendropicos goertae centralis as (Neumann, 1900), stating: 'Theo de Kok raised the question (in litt. 2008.01.21) that Mesopicos goertae centralis Reichenow might have priority over Neumann's name. Edward Dickinson determined from dates of acceptance on copies of the serials in question that this may very well be so. It appears that further work may be necessary to settle the taxonomic and nomenclatural details here'
