Eschmeyer (online Catalog of Fishes, 2002) treats the type species of Dexillus Chabanaud, 1930 (Synaptura macrolepis Bleeker, 1858) as valid in another genus (Brachirus macrolepis (Bleeker 1858)), so ITIS is placing Dexillus in synonymy under Brachirus based on this type species placement
