"Pacific flagfin mojarra" has been applied to the name Eucinostomus gracilis in the past, but should only be applied to E. currani. See comments in Nelson et al., eds. (2004)
Comment:
See Eschmeyer (online Catalog of Fishes, 2007). Californiensis and gracilis were both published in the same work (Gill 1862), but the first revisor selected californiensis over gracilis. However, current usage favors gracilis (ICZN, 'prevailing usage')
