Comment:
The annual phase with papillate achenes of Fimbristyis dichotoma (L.) Vahl (TSN 40114) is sometimes separated as Fimbristylis annua (All.) Roem. & Schult. (TSN 40110). The type of F. annua is from Europe and that of F. dichotoma is from Asia. It is possible the relationship between F. annua and F. dichotoma cannot be resolved without molecular analysis of populations in both the New and Old World (Mark Strong, pers. comm., 2013)
