Petter's (1975b) synonomy of G. alticola with G. pyramidum should not be followed: '... the nearest documented occurrence of G. pyramidum is over 1300 kilometers distant in Sudan.' Lay claimed that acticola '... should be regarded as distinct pending revision and karyotypic analysis.' Pavlinov et al. (1990) included acticola in G. pyramidum but with a question
