Gnathophausia fagei is listed with authorship 'Casanova, 1996' in some publications (see Sawamoto, 2014 and Petryashov, 2015); Casanova (1996) explicitly labeled the binomial a 'sp. nov.' However, the text of Casanova (1996) makes clear that Casanova's Gnathophausia fagei is based on the same type as Gnathophausia elegans fagei Bacescu, 1991, and thus should be understood as a new rank rather than a new name. This binomial is correctly cited as Gnathophausia fagei Bacescu, 1991
