According to Eschmeyer (online Catalog of Fishes, 2002), Pellona fuerthii Steindachner 1875 was "originally published as Pellona fürthii; emendation to fuerthii is made if it is a German word." He then lists the valid name as Ilisha fuerthii (Steindachner 1875), suggesting that this emendation (though not generally appearing in the literature) is appropriate
