Vigalondo et al. (2019) propose recognizing three new species of Lewinkya affinis in North America, and restricting Lewinkya affinis sensu strictu to Old World distribution. However, since they did not publish new names for their proposed new species, this taxonomic action has not yet been taken in ITIS
