Cook and Tribull (2013) note the following concerns with the subfamily arrangement within the Corioxenidae: 'Pohl and Beutel (2005) subsequently determined that the previous subfamily classifications are likely not representative of monophyletic groups, although some branching events were not well supported in their study. Therefore, the current status of subfamily placement is uncertain and requires further study, including a complete phylogenetic treatment.
