Csorba et al. (2014) recognize subgenus Myotis (Chrysopteron) as accepted - containing species M. bartelsi Jentink, 1910, M. formosus (Hodgson, 1835), M. hermani Thomas, 1923, M. rufoniger (Tomes, 1858), M. rufopictus (Waterhouse, 1845), and M. weberi (Jentink, 1890) - but as the "Definition of Myotis subgenera has long challenged taxonomists" (Csorba et al. 2014) and the other subgenera of Myotis have not been recently revised, for now this treatment recognizes no subgenera in Myotis
