The type locality of Neotermes larseni (Light, 1935) is Cocos Island, Costa Rica; single record from Jalisco was not confirmed in the survey of termites from nearby Chamela, Colima by Nickle and Collins (1988); confirmation is needed to establish that Neotermes larseni (Light, 1935) occurs in Mexico
