Comments: Rattus Division. Formerly thought closely related to Mallomys but has little affinity to that New Guinea Old Endemic and instead is phylogenetically related to the living Komodomys rintjanus and Pleistocene Hooijeromys nusatenggara, both endemics of Nusa Tenggara (Musser, 1981c) and members of the Rattus Division.
