Comments: Rattus Division. Described by Ellerman as a subgenus of Rattus, but now recognized as distinct genus (Musser and Newcomb, 1983; Musser, 1984). Membership in the Rattus Division is supported by morphological data (Musser and Newcomb, 1983) and albumin immunology (Watts and Baverstock, 1994b). Morphological comparisons with Sundaic Sundamys, also in the Rattus Division, recorded by Musser and Newcomb, 1983)
