Comment:
Cutler & Cutler (1990:713) argued that the more often used name Phascolosoma nigrescens Keferstein 1865 should be used over the less-used but senior name P. puntarenae Grübe & Oersted 1858. In spite of their arguments (i.e., to preserve nomenclatural stability and avoid confusion), we follow the Code and let priority dictate Phascolosoma puntarenae as the appropriate name for this taxon. A petition to the ICZN would be required to do otherwise
