Comment:
Eschmeyer (personal communication December 2002, and online Catalog of Fishes, 2002) suggests that as long as its type species (Rhomnus unimaculatus Risso, 1820) is treated as a junior synonym of Zeugopterus regius (Bonnaterre, 1788), the genus Phrynorhombus Günther, 1862 must be considered a junior synonym of Zeugopterus Gottsche, 1835
