Pteropus: Comments
Comment:
Comments: The International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature ruled in favor of rejecting Brisson (1762), but conserved several of the generic names including Pteropus (Opinion 1894, ICZN 1998). Formerly included arquatus and leucotis which were transferred to Acerodon by Musser et al. (1982a). Species groups follow Koopman (1994)
Comment:
CITES: Appendix II except Pteropus brunneus and the species included in Appendix I, per 2013 Checklist of CITES species: Index of CITES species published with amendments to the Appendices and changes in standard scientific nomenclature following the 16th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (Bangkok, 2013). For current status see CITES.org
