Comments: Subgenus Pygeretmus. Corbet (1978c) and Gromov and Baranova (1981) synonymized P. vinogradovi with P. platyurus without comment. Heptner (1984) agreed because he felt the differences between the two forms were not sharp enough to warrant specific recognition, a view followed by Pavlinov and Rossolimo (1987, 1998), Pavlinov et al. (1995), and Shenbrot et al. (1995). Shenbrot's (1988) results indicated that P. vinogradovi falls within the range of variaiton of P. platyurus, and that vinogrado...
