The type locality of Reticulitermes flavipes (Kollar) is from Texas, USA; Banks and Snyder (1920) depicted one outlier record from Tamaulipas, Mexico; they also depicted the Reticulitermes claripennis, which was later synonimized with Reticulitermes flavipes (Kollar) from Monterrey, Mexico; this species occurs throughout the eastern portion of the continent associated with the eastern deciduous forest and it seems unlikely that it would occur as far south as Mexico along the Gulf coast
