Comments: Salpingotini (Pavlinov, 1980b). Proposed by Pavlinov (1980b) based upon genital morphology, tooth characters, and shape of the condylar process on the dentary. Results of a morphometric and qualitative study of Salpingotus by Vorontsov and Shenbrot (1984) showed substructure within the genus based on overall morphological similarity (phenetic analyses), with michaelis joining the clusters of other Salpingotus at a high level of dissimilarity, followed by S. kozlovi.
