Peters (1948) accepted name Selindera culik (Wagler), stating 'Replaces Ramphastos piperivorus Linné, not identifiable (p. 79); but as Linnaeus provided a description with direct references to other publications with information sufficient for diagnosis, the correct name for this taxon is Selenidera piperivora (Linnaeus, 1766) (see Pacheco, 2006)
