(1981b, 1987b) gave karyological and morphological characters that distinguished this species from S. kluchorica and S. concolor, S. armenica (Sokolov and Baskevich, 1988), and S. kazbegika (Sokolov et al., 1986b). Recognized by Pavlinov and Rossolimo (1998) and reviewed by Shenbrot et al. (1995). See also comment under Sicista, and in Corbet (1984:25)
