Many bacterial names that were not published or validated under the 1980-onward 'bacteriological' Code are effectively unidentifiable due to the lack of viable type material and other diagnostic issue. Unless/until they are accounted for in the modern literature they will be left linked as 'artifacts' under the top level bacterial name
