Comments: Tribe Tamiasciurini (Tamiasciurus + Sciurotamias) according to Moore (1959), but Black (1963) and Thorington et al. (1998) argued that the genus is closely related to Sciurus, which has been supported by molecular data (Mercer and Roth, 2003; Steppan et al., 2004)
