Comments: Included in suborder Soricomorpha of the Lipotyphla by Butler (1988) and by MacPhee and Novacek (1993). McKenna and Bell (1997:293) use the name Tenrecoidea (attributing it incorrectly to Gray, 1821:301) as a superfamily with the note "Proposed as suborder of Lipotyphla, coordinate with Erinaceomorpha, Soricomorpha, and Chrysochlorida"; however, usage of this name is undesirable (see above)
