Comment:
Tibicen has been variously attributed to Latreille 1825, Latreille in Berthold 1827, and Latreille 1829. There are consequences for the type species in each case, which can dramatically affect the taxonomy and hierarchy. It appears in 1825: 426 as the sole entry following a description, as 'Les g. Cicale, Tibicen (c. plebeia)', which suffices to make the name available with type species by monotypy (A. Sanborn, in litt. March 2012)
