The first use of a family-group name (superfamily to subtribe) based on Trombicula Berlese, 1905 seems to have been Trombiculinae Ewing, 1929. Per the Principle of Coordination (ICZN Art. 36.1) authorship of all such family-group names based on Trombicula must be given authorship of Ewing, 1929, regardless who first used them at any particular rank and when
