Comments: Morphology, ecology, and comparisons with other species of Chrotomys provided by Rickart and Heaney (1991) and Rickart et al. (1991). Altitudinal distribution and ecology summarized by Heaney et al. (1999). Standard karyotype (2n = 44, FN = 52; Rickart and Musser, 1993) indistinguishable from those of Rhynchomys isarogensis and Chrotomys silaceus (Rickart and Heaney, 2002; the latter recorded as Celaenomys)
