Comments: Placed in simonsi group by Patton (1987). Gardner and Emmons (1984) included hendeei; considered a separate species by Eisenberg and Redford (1999). Karyotype has 2n=32 and FN=58 (Gardner and Emmons, 1984; Patton and Gardner, 1972)
