The Checklist of North American Butterflies, 2nd Edition (2001) lists this as a "Neotropical species dubiously reported to have occurred naturally in the United States." Pelham (2008:13), however, lists it without comment, including the subspecies Astraptes alector hopfferi (Plötz, 1881)
