Although the Turbellarian taxonomic database (v 1.7) gives the authorship as Friedmann, 1933, the name was established as a family by the same author in 1926. According to the Principle of Coordination (ICZN 1999, Art. 36), once established at any family-group rank (from superfamily to subtribe), the name is established at all the family-group ranks with the original author and date
