Unresolved secondary homonymy is shown by Platnick (2012, online World Spider Catalog v12.5), where both Cheiracanthium insulare (Vinson, 1863) and Cheiracanthium insulare L. Koch, 1866 are listed as valid species. The latter is a junior secondary homonym and includes the comment 'if actually congeneric with [Cheiracanthium insulare (Vinson, 1863)], a replacement name will be needed'
