Комментарий:
Fabricius named Cupes with a single species "capitata" (clearly feminine). No justification can be found for considering this a masculine genus. Romans apparently used both Cupes and Cuppes as an adjective (derived from cupio "to desire") meaning a desire for delicacies. In the only ancient Latin text using this it is found modifying a masculine noun, but that does not make its gender masculine in general
