Author citation 'Hippolytidae Dana, 1852' is an error, the family name is widely recognized as having been published by Charles Spence Bate in 1888, and the ICZN ruled Opinion 470, published 1957) that when the respective type genera are treated in the same family, Hyppolytidae Bate 1888 must take precedence over the senior names Lysmatidae Dana 1852 and Thoridae Kingsley 1878
