The beetle genus Mastax Kleine 1918 is a junior homonym of another beetle genus Mastax Fischer de Waldheim 1828 (and an orthopteran genus Mastax Perty 1832). Strand added endnote corrections, giving the name 'Kleinëella Strand' as a replacement in the same publication. Due to publication delays, however, Kleine inadvertently made the genus name 'Kleinella' (note spelling) available in 1917, when he described a new species, Kleinella compressicornis, and referred to the other work as having used this spelling and being in press ('im Druck'), according to Sforzi & Bartolozzi (2004:303). Unfortunately, this 1917 name is also a junior homonym of a mollusk genus (Kleinella Adams 1860, TSN 76032). It appears that the earliest potentially valid name for the genus is Kleineella Strand in Kleine 1918, as a replacement name for Mastax, and with the type automatically being that of Mastax (Mastax barbata Kleine 1918), as specified by Zimmerman (1994), rather than the type ascribed to the other homonym Kleinella (K. compressicornis Kleine 1917), as specified by Sforzi & Bartolozzi. Although Zimmerman restricted Kleineella to the type species, there was no current genus specified for the four noted non-Australian species, so for the moment ITIS will retain them in this genus
