Comments: P. eremicus species group. Ranked by Osgood (1909) as a race of P. eremicus, but Lawlor (1971b), noting morphological differences and sympatry of the two, resurrected P. eva as a species, including the population on nearby Isla Carmen as a subspecies (also see Hafner et al., 2001).
