McLaughlin et al. (2005) note: "Pylochelidae. J. Forest, 1987, Mém. Mus. Natl. Hist. Nat., Ser. A, Zool. 137:25, pointed out that the family name Pylochelidae Bate, 1888, had priority over Pomatochelidae Stebbing, 1914. Pylochelidae replaces Pomatochelidae that was used in the first edition."
