Sickle Tickseed is a perennial herb that typically reaches heights of 1 to 2 feet. This native wildflower, which has a relatively short lifespan, thrives in various wetland environments, including wet prairies, cypress swamp borders, floodplain forests, marshes, bogs, pine savannahs, and ditches. However, it is susceptible to damage from deer browsing. Additionally, one of the main issues affecting this plant is the risk of powdery mildew.
Leaves are petiolate, elliptic to spatulate in outline, entire (rarely with 1-2 basal lobes), thick and leathery in texture, and glabrous. Stem leaves are alternate, lanceolate to linear in outline, with the blade little differentiated from the petiole.
