Plant Profile: Illicium lanceolatum

Anisetree is a tall, slender evergreen species indigenous to China. Its leaves are simple and leathery, releasing a pleasant anise scent when crushed. From May to June, it produces relatively small pink flowers, characteristic of the Illicium genus. In the summer, these flowers give way to star-shaped seed capsules.
