The renowned Rose 'Penelope,' created by Rev. Joseph Pemberton, made its debut in 1924. This variety features impressive blooms that measure 4 to 5 inches across, characterized by their saucer shape and comprising 16 to 25 petals, which appear in abundant clusters. In addition to its striking flowers, it emits a robust hybrid musk fragrance. While it enjoys an extended blooming period that lasts from summer through fall, the blossoms in spring are particularly exceptional.
The young leaves exhibit a vibrant copper hue, which matures into a rich, glossy green over time. Additionally, it offers visual appeal in winter with the formation of orange-pink hips.
To maintain the health of the plant, it is advisable to refrain from heavy pruning.
