Rannooch-rush is a unique flowering plant belonging to the Scheuchzeriaceae family, which comprises only this single species and genus. This plant thrives in wet, bog-like environments across the northern hemisphere. Despite its common name, pod-grass, it is important to note that it is not a type of grass but rather a rush. Due to its understated appearance, it can easily go unnoticed; however, it can be recognized by its distinctive tri-capsuled fruits and the small openings at the tips of its leaves.
