Plant Profile: Symphyotrichum concolor

This wildflower can be found throughout North Carolina, though it is infrequently seen in mountainous regions. Its prevalence is highest in the woodlands of the piedmont and coastal plains. In 1996, this plant was honored as the NC Wildflower of the Year, a designation overseen by the North Carolina Botanical Garden, with financial backing from the Garden Club of North Carolina.
